Living with Intention

How often do we go through our day not really knowing how we made it from the morning to bed time. So often we go through the motions of our everyday activities without thought. What would happen if we lived our life with intention? What would happen if we were present in every moment, of every decision, of every thought?
My father died when I was only 4 months old leaving my mother to raise me on her own. I learned from a very young age that life was about the decisions that you made; that being present and intentional about what you wanted and what you didn't want was crucial to my personal success. I learned that if I wanted to excel at something, like gymnastics, track, football, or any other sport, I needed to be intentional about practicing every chance I could. If I wanted to succeed academically I had to be intentional about studying and focusing on my courses. This same outlook continued to carry me into adulthood.
After finding out that I was pregnant at the age of 19, living intentionally took on another layer of meaning for me. Living intentionally now meant being fully present in my sons life...moment by moment. I wanted my son to know and understand that life does not just happen to you; that we participate in and contribute to the life we live. Since that is the case - live intentionally:
- know why you are making the decisions you make
- know who you are
- defend what you believe
- create memories
- have feelings
- acknowledge those feelings
- think before you act
- participate in life
- don't change the core of who you are
- don't walk blindly
- LIVE with INTENTION
Consider what it would be like if we all lived with intention...
